Tom Thoennes 2002 UMP late model
This will be Tom's second year in this Rayburn late model.
In 2001(first year in a late model) he gained several heat race wins and qualified for the Summernationals race at American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois.
Tom visited four tracks last year;Farmer City, Fairbury, Macon, and Danville(Vermillion county).
Goals for this year definately include feature wins as well as to perform well in the bigger shows if not contend for wins in the Summernationals, Northern All-Stars,and the Prairie Dirt Clasic.

HISTORY
Tom also became interested in racing at an early age watching dad race around the area. Being only a few years younger than his brother Paul, it was easy to always find someone to race. Tom spent much of ths teenage years and early 20's successfully racing Quads around central Illinois. Always in the back of his truck was his R/C racing equipment.If the family isn't racing on the track you can be certain there is an R/C happening in the pits. It's a hobby you don't outgrow.
Tom started racing the real things in 1999 with a sportsman car. His first year saw many trips to victory lane including features. The second year was more successful seeing three feature wins including the Pappy Allen memorial as well as finishing 3rd in the points to two veteran drivers. 2001 saw the big jump to late models.
As of mid-March,Tom's car is basically finished except for a few more graphics and a little motor work to get it ready to go racing.
Almost all of the motor work/tuning is done by Paul Thoennes
